Teachers are the key to any successful school, which is why GPSN awarded over $1 million in grants to help recruit educators for hard-to-staff positions and keep great teachers in classrooms. Grants went to everything from advertising aimed at new teachers to sabbaticals for experienced educators so they could deepen their knowledge about specific topics or have more time to spend with their families. In the end, GPSN funding helped hire or retain over 200 teachers, many in the hard-to-staff fields of math, science and special education. We’re confident these grants created a more diverse and committed teaching force in L.A. at a time when California is facing an educator shortage.
