University Pathways Public Service Academy

Great Public Schools Now’s goal is educational equality for all children in our city. That means students in South L.A. should have the same chance at success as children in Westwood.

For that to happen, South L.A. needs more great options like Diego Rivera Learning Complex Public Service Community School, an L.A. Unified high school where 98% of students graduate. Because of such success, families flock to apply to the school, and the waiting list is long every year, which means some families aren’t able to get in.

Through an innovative collaboration with L.A. Unified, Great Public Schools Now used $750,000 to help “re-create” Diego Rivera at a nearby district campus that had empty space. The new school will open this fall and offer small classes with dynamic teachers, a full slate of extracurricular activities, and every student who graduates will also receive an associate’s degree.
