GPSN Statement on DACA Announcement

Statement from GPSN Executive Director Myrna Castrejón regarding Trump Administration Rescinding DACA

Sept. 5, 2017 (LOS ANGELES, CA) -  Great Public Schools Now is appalled by the plan to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Our hearts go out to the 800,000 immigrants who will be directly affected, their friends and families, and the communities those immigrants live in and serve. We all deserve better than this shortsighted and cruel action.

GPSN is proud of educational organizations that are standing up for their students. School should be a safe place where all students can learn and grow. DACA protections gave a generation of young people hope that they could fulfill their dreams in the country that many of them consider their home: the United States of America.

GPSN will do everything we can to ensure that students are supported. We urge everyone who supports fair immigration reform to contact their elected officials and let them know that you support DACA and Dreamers.
