Ray serves as Senior Manager of Collective Action for Great Public Schools Now. He is an organizer, native Angeleno, and proud product of a Central American-Chinese family of immigrants and refugees. At fifteen, he was elected the youngest Board Member of a neighborhood council in California. He lived in San Francisco for four years, came out as a Queer man, and doubled down on his commitment to social justice. After moving back home, he began working for Board District 5 at the Los Angeles Unified School District, representing the communities he was raised in. Four years later, he transitioned to the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, advocating for education equity and managing the Communities for Los Angeles Student Success (CLASS) Coalition.
Ray holds a Bachelor’s in Sociology with a dual emphasis in Education and Gender/Sexualities from the University of San Francisco (USF) and is currently at the University of Southern California (USC) finishing his Master’s of Urban Planning and Certificate of Public Policy. Ray lives with his beloved partner, enjoys the art of drag, and loves spending time with his family and friends.
