University Pathways Medical Magnet Academy
Parents want their children to have every chance to be successful. That’s why the waiting list at King/Drew Magnet High School of Medicine and Science, the only L.A. Unified campus in South L.A. designed to help students become medical professionals, always has a long waiting list and why families are always disappointed when their children don’t get in.
Through an innovative collaboration with L.A. Unified, Great Public Schools Now used $750,000 to “re-create” King/Drew at a nearby district campus that had empty space. The “re-created” school opened in the fall of 2018 and offers small classes with dynamic teachers, a full slate of extracurricular activities, and every student who graduates will also receive an associate’s degree.
